# Your account and first login

Your Forge account identifies you and determines which workspaces you can open. An administrator may create your account or send an invite. Use the invite only for your own account, choose a strong password, and keep the sign-in details private.

## Sign in and check access

After signing in, use the sidebar to choose a workspace. The workspace list is the access you currently have; it is normal not to see every workspace in an organisation. Open one workspace, then read an active task or page to check that the account and workspace are the intended ones.

If a workspace, task or action you expect is missing, do not try another person's account. Ask an authorised administrator to check your membership and role in **Settings → Users**.

## Recover an account safely

The Forge sign-in flow includes a password-reset request at `/reset-password`. Request a new link using your account email and complete it only on Forge's reset page. If you cannot receive that message, the email is wrong, or you need access changed, contact an administrator. Never share a password, reset link or invite link.

## Prompts to try

```
Read the workspaces I can access and suggest one safe first task in the workspace I choose. Do not change anything.
```

```
I expected to see [workspace]. Explain what information an administrator needs to check my access. Do not try to bypass access controls.
```

## Next steps

Once the correct workspace opens, take the [workspace tour](/help/workspace-tour). If you will work with an agent, connect it only after you can confirm the correct Forge account and workspace.

See [Finding your way around](/help/workspace-tour) and [Add a teammate](/help/add-teammates).
