Managing work

Dates and recurring work

A task date helps the team see a real deadline or follow-up point. Recurring work is different: it needs a repeatable schedule that creates or reopens the right work at the right time.

Set dates that mean something

Add a due date when there is a genuine date to meet. Update it when the commitment changes, rather than leaving an old date to look urgent forever. You can also snooze work temporarily when it cannot be acted on yet; review it when the snooze ends.

Use Workspace → Tasks to inspect dates alongside the task's steps and status.

Use a schedule for repeated work

Open the global Schedules area to review scheduled work. A recurring schedule is appropriate for a repeatable routine such as a weekly review. Check its cadence, owner and resulting task before relying on it. A paused schedule needs attention before it will run again.

An agent can inspect tasks and their dates through manage_task. Be explicit about whether you want a date changed, a task snoozed, or a recurring routine designed; those are different actions.

A prompt to try

Show tasks due in the next seven days and flag any with no remaining open step. Do not change dates.
Help me design a weekly review routine for overdue tasks. Describe the schedule and the task it should create before setting anything up.

Check the result

After changing a date or schedule, open the affected task and confirm the next action is still clear. A schedule is useful only if the person receiving the work can understand what to do when it appears.
